When Mjolnir impacted with Cap’s shield, the resultant shockwave had nothing to do with the shield being made of Vibranium.

Just as Mjolnir has an enchantment that only allows the worthy to wield it, it has one to prevent it being used to harm those worthy of it.

Steve could have been holding up a copy of National Geographic and he would have been completely fine.
